Production Engineering has been a trusted source for resistance welding equipment and supplies since 1953. Founded in Dayton, Ohio by engineer Carl Bertsche Sr., the company was built on a straightforward principle: manufacturing plants deserve a supplier that actually understands the equipment it sells.
Over seven decades, that commitment has shaped everything from how inventory is stocked to how the team approaches technical support.
Carl Bertsche Sr. founded Production Engineering after a career at Precision Welder and Flexopress Company, where he served as chief engineer. His son Carl Jr. joined the business in 1977 following an engineering degree at the University of Cincinnati and five years with the International Division of Procter & Gamble. Under his leadership, the company grew into one of the region’s leading distributors of resistance welding equipment and supplies.
Today, John Bertsche serves as vice president, overseeing customer development, marketing, and the company’s ongoing evolution as a full-service stocking distributor.
Production Engineering is a Master Distributor for several leading manufacturers and a stocking distributor across the full spectrum of resistance welding needs. Controls, transformers, cables, holders, electrodes, weld caps, bar stock, chillers, weld checkers, nut feeders, electrode dressers, and more are stocked for immediate delivery.
All TECNA spot welders carried by Production Engineering use standard US components, not metric, so fixture changes and part sourcing stay straightforward for American manufacturing operations.
When a customer needs more than off-the-shelf equipment, Production Engineering connects them with manufacturers capable of designing and building custom production welding solutions across spot welding, projection welding, seam welding, GMAW work cells, laser welding, and electron beam welding.
For facilities with older machinery that still has production value, the team can also support refurbishment and control upgrades, extending the life of reliable equipment.
The Production Engineering team brings more than 30 years of combined resistance welding experience to every inquiry. Whether the need is a quick replacement part or a complete production welding solution, the answer starts with a phone call.
